St. Petersburg, FL. Top Rated Beaches
Picture yourself, cocktail in hand, gazing over the powdery white sand toward the Gulf of Mexico as the sun sets over the water. There are good reasons why many experts and rating sites have placed Pinellas County beaches among the very best in the world. Having grown up here we were “spoiled” and thought ALL beaches were like ours. Not only are they beautiful, we’ve got a lot of them. The entire west side of our county is comprised of barrier islands, all beach communities with the Gulf to the west and the Intracoastal Waterway to the east. Among them:
The Gulf Beaches
- St Pete Beach
- Treasure Island
- Madeira Beach
- North Redington Beach
- Redington Shores
- Indian Shores
- Indian Rocks Beach
- Clearwater Beach
Fort DeSoto State Park
But the crown jewel of them all is Fort De Soto State Park. It is the largest park in Pinellas County, with 1,136 acres made up of five interconnected islands (keys). In 2009, Trip Adviser (the world’s largest online travel community) rated Fort De Soto as America’s top beach. “Dr. Beach,” named Fort De Soto the nation’s #1 Beach in 2005.
So, the St. Petersburg area gives you beach living with many choices, from the great night life of beach bars with live music, great restaurants, luxury hotels, to the seclusion and serenity of a State Beach Park, with one of the best beaches in the world. All of them on the West Coast of the state. And that means sunsets galore.
